I've never posted a thread before, but I thought FReepers might want this information. I just contacted Netflix to let them know that I do NOT want to see Gay / Lesbian films listed under the "Romance" category. I've been a Netflix subscriber since the early days, but this is my second dispute with them the last few months (the first was over the Sarah Palin bashing tweet from April, 2013).
I told them that I understand they may have a market for these films, but listing them under "Romance" amounts to pushing their GLBT agenda on customers, and that in doing so, they stand to lose a lot of conservative subscribers. They apologized and said they would mark my account so these films would not appear in my searches, but I insisted that they should never have defaulted these films under the "Romance" category to begin with.
I encourage other like-minded Netflix subscribers to voice your displeasure over this. I used the "Contact us" link at the bottom of the page, and chose the "chat" option.
I remember years ago, some said that Brokeback Mountain was a cowboy romance.
It’s all part of mainstreaming homosexuality. It puts people in the position of being accused of being bigoted if you say anything about such classification of homosexual themed movies as simply romantic stories.
So you didn’t cancel your subscription?
This is why I cancelled my Hulu subscription. The homo crap was pushed in your face at every turn. And I let them know that.
The most powerful way that you can complain is to cancel your subscription. Sorry if that sounds drastic, but unless you quit feeding the beast, it will just keep growing.
Nothing romantic about sodomy
I was just browsing Netflix last night looking for some movies to add to my streaming list and I was a bit overwhelmed by the sudden increase in gay movies. Never noticed this before so it must be a new push. The cover images for the movies made it very clear it was a gay movie. Not to sound like a total homophobe but I really don’t want this crap pushed in my face or the face of my kids. I already cut out cable, looks like Netflix might be next on the chopping block.
Good for you. I also have Netflix but did not see any gay/lesbian movies in comedy or drama ..now some of the movies that were “mainstream” may be put in those category. Dallas Buyers Club when it is released to Netflix may end up in general drama, but specific gay or lesbian movies should not be part of the public at all.
Broke Back Mounting was a love story...
Unregulated, unfulfilled .....
/S
Should have read:
“Unrequieted, Unfulfilled”....
Brokeback sheep need love too.
There is no such thing a a homophobe. A phobia is an irrational fear of something. No one is afraid of homosexuals. We are just disgusted by them.
Satan is marshaling his forces in this issue. It is a perversion of God’s standard.
This is what is happening.
We need to be in prayer about this as believers in Christ.
I anticipated your suggestions to cancel my subscription, and indeed have considered it. I may still do that, but I just dumped Comcrap last fall (for similar reasons) and I’d rather not dump Netflix just yet. I live alone and don’t want to be confined to mumbling to myself in this chair just yet. :)
Had Enough Yet ?
“Not to sound like a total homophobe but I really dont want this crap pushed in my face or the face of my kids.”
Homophobe? What’s with the pc post? No one here is scared of faggots. They’re disgusting.
If they give you enough information to know that the movie is about gay people, then you know enough not to watch it. So your only objection that some people disagree with you over homosexuality.
But I think you already knew that.
“Romance” is not always an honorific, by the way. Sid & Nancy - about a couple of heroin addicts, was a romance.
Frank (Francis) Underwood may be back for a 3rd season....
...then won't you feel like an idiot.
Not likely, since I have no idea who Francis Underwood is. I assume it's a show featuring homosexuals? I refuse to watch such shows...never seen an episode of "Will & Grace", for example.
