Comedian David Brenner dies at 78

A spokesman for the family of comedian David Brenner says the "Tonight Show" favorite has died. He was 78.
Brenner died Saturday afternoon at his home in New York City, said Jeff Abraham, who was Brenner's publicist.
The gangly, toothy Brenner made more than 150 appearances as a guest and substitute host on Johnny Carson's "Tonight Show," starting in the 1970s.

I saw him perform at the Philly Art Museum concert series many years ago.. I loved his Philly accent. Will miss him.

How does a man who looked 60 years old in the Godfather (1972) still walk among us?
And don't forget he played a senior citizen on Barney Miller in the mid '70s.
"Fish" kept falling asleep on the john on that show.

My two favorite David Brenner jokes...
A sign he saw at the optometrist: Eyes checked, while you wait.
And the one about how restaurants label their bathrooms based on their cuisine. He was at a seafood restaurant and saw bathroom doors labeled "Clams" and "Oysters." Which one was he?
