Unresponsive acceleration out of a 130-hp Sentra? Those continuously-variable transmissions must be duds.

This thing was brand new and my 2001 jetta vr6 with 130k miles had better acceleration.
This Nissan wallowed on the road, and responded to the throttle by pondering the input for almost a minute before deciding to increase velocity in lagging proportion to pedal input.
Kickdown?
This thing never heard of it.
Acceleration to highway merging speed was white knuckle affair every time.
35mph to 65mph was accomplished.. in about thirty seconds or more.
Meanwhile there are semis aiming at you..
It could not handle the ramp at speeds above 35, it did not inspire confidence.

Brand new.
It was a rental, and I was very happy to get my car back.

Oh..and it was metallic baby poo brown.

Reading up on that particular car, yes the second gen CVT it had was rather lame.
Two out of three reviews I read panned its acceleration and noise.
