I don't see it that way. However, their demands are ridiculous. But the offer? There are those who were on that cruise who never want to even look at a cruise ship again. Yet, the only compensation offered involves taking more cruises.
I suspect most cruisers used to naively believed that if anything this bad happened, there'd be an evacuation. I doubt they expected anything this horendous could happen.

The conditions were hell unless you managed to secure enough food/water and hide in your balcony stateroom with the door wide open. Also remember that many cruisers are seniors and kids who are far from hardy or cooperative when things go south.
Bad plumbing leads to disease in such close quarters. “Bad smells” does not begin to describe a place soaked in raw sewage for days.
However, if Carnival is found to have followed all the rules I don’t think plaintiffs should get anything besides a refund, reimbursement for vacation time and medical treatment.
