They need to run a spell check. I think that they misspelled fibre and metres. :)

Interesting story. I always wonder if I am distantly related to people like this lady. My ancestors mostly came from Great Britain.

I also wonder about her life story. Who she loved and who loved her if she had children, was married, and her life was hard (very likely). She seems to have had some wealth, though.

The Guardian was notorious for it’s spelling hence the
not so affectionate term The Grauniad.

It developed a reputation for lots of misprints in the days of hot-metal printing when it was published in Manchester.

Now they changed to computers they still get it wrong.Progress.
