Yes, I had my doubts about this being impossible not to find anything. Of course, I’m quite sure being in a mere sea close to land is not the same as open ocean, but I don’t think it’s unusual they’re having a hard time finding it in the water. Or even if it crashed into a jungle.

What happens with the luggage at the airport when passengers decide at the last minute that they are
not going? I would image it would be a crazy time
and people aren’t paying attention to what other
workers are doing. Maybe someone slipped in there
and stayed for the ride...

Nope. Even a little bit of sea is a big place. I'd say give 'em a few more days before we call this one an unsolved mystery.
