Firefox 26 and up don't allow for the legacy downloader screen. That's one. SEcondly, I don't like the idea of someone updating software unless I want it to happen. I don't let Microsoft do it, I don't let Adobe Flashplayer do it, I don't let Sun Java do it. I update when I want to update.

The idea of someone else having control over my software is very unnerving. I also just found out that Amazon Kindle for PC software has been replaced with a "cloud viewer." I don't want anything I own in a "cloud" of any sort. So I deleted the software and told Amazon I will no longer order ebooks from them until they change it back.

I'm happy with FF 24 & 25. I don't want to go any further. If they continue to change things I will indeed go to another browser and say goodbye to FF for good.

IMO...most of the updates are because of OS and support application updates...they have to keep up with the jones’s.

It's OK to be paranoid, but the video codecs also update and if you freeze your computer in time and bow out of the update process, pretty soon you have a windows XP machine that won't do diddly...and is full of exploit holes big enough to drive a truck through..

I tried that freeze idea.....but had to allow updates because my network crashed due to one computer not having the right credentials.

So do what you must....just sayin...
