There will be silence from the media about allegedly racist conservatives going to a majority minority place for this meeting.

If anybody had said macaca, that would have been the big news.

I’m still frustrated about macaca. Not only did the media have their outrage, but the Washington Post at the time ran a series of articles, to define macaca for us. They had to inform us all as to why macaca was a slur, then smear Allen for using that word.

Robert Byrd said “white ni**ers” on an interview around the year 2000, as I recall, and nothing was said about it because Byrd was a good Democrat.

That's actually an understatement. The articles were a lot more than merely a "series." In fact, after the original macaca incident came to light, the WaPo had a front-page Allen-bashing article just about EVERY DAY during that campaign.

Moreover, the wily propaganda experts at the Post used their on-going, daily macaca discussions as a hook to provide extraneous details about Allen's Jewish ancestry -- something that probably helped erode his support not only among many voters of rural Virginia, but also among the numerous Muslim voters of Northern Virginia.
