I *think* the 26 year age limit for being on parents’ plans has the caveat that the adult-child must be a student. I.e., if your daughter/son graduates from college @ 22, goes on for a Masters or doctorate or to law/medical school, s/he will still have health insurance. I don’t think it covers ALL 22-26 year olds.

Law is not determined by what we “think” it means. It is codified by law. Specifics are detailed. Not based on what someone “thinks” it means.
