Thank you @BarackObama for recording an intro to tomorrow night’s Cosmos broadcast!
CEDAR FALLS -— Comedian Seth MacFarlane, creator of animated sitcoms “Family Guy” and “American Dad,” can think of a lot of reasons he supports President Barack Obama.
MacFarlane -— who made a brief stop at the University of Northern Iowa on Saturday to stump for the Obama campaign and encourage early voting -— used humor to deliver a message he appeared to take very seriously.
“It’s great to see so many women here today,” MacFarlane told a crowd of 100, most who appeared to be college students, adding, “ ... I’m glad you got out of Mitt’s binder.”
Among other things, MacFarlane highlighted Obama’s position on reproductive choice, health insurance, global warming and energy. MacFarlane also said rich people would unnecessarily benefit from tax cuts and tax breaks under Mitt Romney’s plan and that Obama would help the middle class find jobs.
“With Obama, you benefit. With Romeny, I benefit ... And I promise you, I’m fine. I don’t need the help,” MacFarlane said.
MacFarlane took a stroll down memory lane to “eight years of funny business,” a reference to the Presidential George W. Bush era. Unfortunate things that happened under President Bush, according to MacFarlane, included prolonged wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and NBC’s decision to launch a reality television show featuring Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee at the University of Nebraska.
“Please, Iowa, I’m begging you. Please do not let Mitt Romeny take us back to ‘Tommy Lee Goes to College,’” MacFarlane said.
Thanks to Obama, MacFarlane said “Family Guy” scripts now have to turn to the late musician Conway Twitty for prime time foder, rather than an infamous terrorist.
“’Family Guy’ can no longer write jokes about Osama Bin Ladin,” MacFarlane said.

That sure is some MacFarlane overkill. Never liked his type of “humor”, although the angry looks he got for his “We Saw Your ” routine did puncture Hollyweird’s pretense of artistry in that area.
