OK ... I went and read it and it seems Mr. Milquetoast's wife found him anyway.
Someone should put Mr Milquetoast on suicide watch ... he CAN'T be too far from losing his grip

The offended woman is the one who didn’t like that her husband let another sit at their table in a crowded restaurant.
The “police details” later in this article appear to be purely from her perspective claiming that the couple just grabbed seats at the table without asking permission (”uninvited”) and set loose to liplocking (even though it was a peck on the cheek).
