I remember when ‘blink’ worked here and you could post a blinking “WINK”. Back further I believe marquee did work here but it can really make a mess without the closing tag!

You can still post <blink> elements. But they don't work anymore — at least not in Firefox since version 23, when they removed the feature from the browser.

It looks like FR strips out <marquee> elements. But they still work in both Chrome and Firefox. You can read Mozilla's documentation on the tag here.

Yes, I too recall blink and marquee working.

Waaaay back in the dark ages of the forum, noob me got into a thread.
Noob me used italics.
I neglected to close my tag.
The thread, from there, devolved into random open tags and thread slashing.
[Marquee and blink if memory serves.]

Well, Cyber came by, and tracked me down as the source of the italics.

I got depth charged.
*LOL, ouch*
He then, after stomping me good, told me how to keep my html clean.
But that thread... almost seventy five posts of “Italics OFF!” and “bold OFF!” among other things.
Somebody else changed the font size in there.
What a mess that was.

And CGEB... with the rainbow script.
*Shudder*
