1. The Volkswagen “THING”

Actually the “Thing” had a pretty good run, just not in the USA. It was originally developed as a military vehicle and was produced as such for 15 years (1968-83). It was sold for about 10 years in Mexico as the Safari. In the USA though it was introduced in 1973 and discontinued in 1974. Personally I would love to have one as a SHTF vehicle after the EMP attack knocks all the modern cars out.

My neighbor had a Thing. Towed it behind their motorhome. They just loved it until one trip when he hooked it up he forgot to take it out of gear. 100 miles or so later he had to get another rig to tow behind the motorhome.

I don’t see many around at all now...In In our subtropical climate i see a LOT of antique cars.
