I mean, check out all those great records Elvis cut at Sun Records before he was "discovered" by this cigar-chomping huckster. Once Parker got his hands on Elvis, he started recording all that "Love Me Tender" crap and making all those crappy "B" movies.
Everything Elvis recorded for Sun from 1953-55 was pure gold.
I didn’t know that about Elvis, but the same thing happened to the rock band Journey. The first three albums were incredible, and then they turned into pop rock. Incredible pop rock, to be sure, but nothing like the hard rock brilliance of the first three albums. Of course, the pop rock made them go multiple platinum, but that’s just a commentary on democracy, not musical excellence.
