There are some truly nasty people that post on this site. It was fun in the 90s, but not so much now.

You are right about that. Any forum that has been around as long as FR is going to have trolls.
I am now feel the brunt of one group that has a hate Alex ping list. The prolific members of the list are vile, childish brats that use nasty expletives.They stalk me so that they can jump on any of my postings.
Their complaint is that I have been an expat, starting from 2000, and full time since 2005. They hate that I have a happy life, while they are there to suffer the Obamination.
I left before I had ever heard of Obama, so my absence is in no way political. My post are taken completely out of context, as they assume that I am trashing America, when it is Obama, his Obots, and Democrats in general who are destroying America. Anyway, the trolls will not run me off. I have been an active member of FR longer then any of them. I no longer read their childish postings to me.
I am as American as anyone on here, with my linage going back pre 1812, Troy, NY, with the most famous name in the country being my great great great uncle.
I am in my senior years and always had a desire to explore other countries. Is that a sin? I look back though and see the pain and suffering that Americans are feeling, but we have no power to stop it, outside of voting, which I can still do from anywhere.
I knew when Obama was reelected that America was in deep trouble, and I am not at all optimistic for the future in my limited remaining years.

Used to be (yes, I was here in the 90's) I felt I was among friends. Goals were pretty much the same all around, but tactics varied, and it was in everyone's interest to discuss those in a friendly manner regardless of disagreements. No more. Now it's mostly about labels.
