If it is, in fact, Uighurs, they are a long way from home. Certainly they capable and bloodthirsty enough. Kunming’s minority population is mostly Dai and are Buddhist. They aren’t separatists.

It is kind of odd for them to travel so far from home to launch an attack. And then choosing another remote section of China instead of Beijing or Shanghai.
