Good grief-do either of you have a dread chronic problem? Do you use a bunch of drugs?

I’m speechless-that is the kind of deductible that would have been charged for someone with a chronic condition where I worked till 2005-we didn’t have anyone like that fortunately, because it was a small risk pool-hence the high price. But the Obamacrap risk pool is supposed to be huge, isn’t it? The way group insurance works is-the larger the risk pool, the lower the premiums and deductibles-so, has logic been suspended?

Well I didn’t look beyond the first page - but it seems to suggest it doesn’t pay for anything until you meet the $6000 deductible...because the “gold plan” does state it pays some percentage- so I’m not sure it does pay for drugs until you meet the deductible.

Nope - my husband doesn’t take a single drug and the website only asked if you have a list of ailments - all of which I said no to - so this was just a basic list and the price was still that high and the deductible was the same for all in that catagory. Just to compare, we have a great policy now that covers our family and included dental and vision coverage for less than $300 per month. NOT per person, for the family.

No, birth control (and certain other “essentials” are without co-pay).

Do you really think they are so stupid as to make Suzy Q. Sleepsaround pay a deductible before getting her contraception?

Maybe they are, but I doubt it.

Apparently logic has indeed been suspended. It sounds like they are doing the clueless government thing of one-size-fits-all. Please tell me you will get to keep your current policy and avoid the madness...

my best friend is a gynecologist. her background is woman’s health— pretty much in the ghetto of Phila, bc she had a national health scholarship to med school at the U of Penna. she was not always a conservative, but was a former dem [but so was i. Another of her friends from med school is an ER doc, and she is very active in the tea party movement. My friend laughs because though her friend and i have not seen or spoken to each other since her wedding, we often send her the same stuff in email to read. anyway, i sent my friend the tammy bruce podcast about gay marriage yesterday. i try to send her stuff to attempt to gently educate her in a conservative way. i think she may watch MSM. her reaction was that the podcast was very interesting, but that she was turned off bc Tammy referred to bc costing only $9. She said her patients have not paid $9 in decades and that it is far closer to $90 etc. She said she has a hard time listening to something when a FALSEHOOD like that is thrown in. Well not wanting to be confrontational, i just googled around a bit and found a handful of articles, not even from conservative sources, which said generics could be had for as low as $9 and that brand names were $90 etc. In fact everything i googled had that same range. i replied, well Tammy is gay and may not be up on the cost of BC since she wouldn’t need it, but in googling around i found generics $9 and brands $90 and i listed about 6 articles. She said, well maybe it’s a regional thing, and maybe it’s higher here in the DelMarVa area. So again, gently, i said well the one article i sent noted that the Target 3 mi from Gtown law school where Sandra Fluke sat, had the bc pills for $9. That has to be the Target at Potomac Yards plaza, bc that is the closest one to Gtown law school. i said it would be interesting to know where her patients fill their scrips. Generally i use Safeway pharmacy for ours, but maybe Target is cheaper as a general rule. I also said that i noted one of the articles mentioned that filling the scrips without using insurance can sometimes be cheaper, than using insurance.
Anyway, she is clearly still in need of education, she has bought into the MSM BS and this is her field. I said it’s hard to fault pundits or commentators for citing the $9 pricetag for bc when it was listed as such in all of the articles i found. i have to pick my battles with her, go about it gently so as not to alienate, and not overwhelm her with stuff. she is still a work in progress. i REALLY want to talk to her other dr friend, but the three of us have not had a chance to meet up as of yet.

Speaking of people who should NOT control your life, did you know the IRS taxes lump sum separations at higher rates than your regular income taxes? Does it make sense that they took more out of this final paycheck than they took out for the entire year of 2013? Does it make sense they are taking more money from me now that it is evident I am unemployed and need the funds even more. I HATE THE IRS.

The IRS also taxes debt settlements as income. Say you owe $5000 on a credit card and they settle for $2500. In the IRS’ mind, you just made $2500 and they add that to your income for the year.

You are spot on that she needs to be educated-or is that re-educated? Either way, she is in Lala land-dare I say out of touch with the real world outside the MSM bubble? Keep sending her stuff, though, -you are providing a valuable service-even the most stubborn horse can be taught to accept and enjoy human interaction on a ride...

Generic birth control pills were $7.50-$10.00, cash price in the early 90’s at Walgreens and several other pharmacies-higher with insurance by a couple of dollars even then-paperwork is paperwork...
