If memory serves, the bad guy in the book after "Return of the Jedi" (Volume VII???) is physically unimposing, with blue-green skin. "Grand Admiral Thrawn" was his name.

Who knows what Disney will do to the franchise, though. IIRC, a couple of characters in the final trilogy were interesting, but the stories were pretty bad. We will see what Disney bases the next movies on.

Actually, the first book (chronologically) after Ep. VI was some lizard-men out in the outer edges of the Empire. Thrawn was introduced a short time after that.
But I doubt they'll follow the book universe too closely, That'll probably have issues with copyright vs the book authors/publishers (even though Star Wars licensed?) maybe? I just can't really see them following an already written story.
