[T]he moments before police officer fatally shot newlywed firefighter in downtown KC
The Kansas City Star ^ | February 25, 2014 | Donna McGuire

Posted on 02/26/2014 8:38:36 PM PST by Uncle Chip

As he lay bleeding on a downtown Kansas City street, newlywed Anthony Bruno mouthed “Don’t let me die” to a bystander who had rolled him on his back to check two gunshot wounds.

On the pavement nearby, Police Officer Donald Hubbard felt himself drifting in and out of consciousness. Blood dripped from his broken and battered face. He tried to get up but fell back.

The bystander, who happened to be a critical care nurse in a hospital trauma unit, could not find Bruno’s pulse. She asked Hubbard to apply pressure to Bruno’s wounds while she began chest compressions. Hubbard crawled to her as sirens sounded in the distance, according to documents released Tuesday by police.

Soon an arriving police officer asked what direction the gunman had fled.

Hubbard looked up.

“I shot him,” he said.

Multiple witnesses described elements of that scene to investigators trying to piece together what led to an off-duty Kansas City police officer fatally shooting an off-duty Kansas City firefighter who had been celebrating his November wedding in the early hours of Dec. 1....

It’s not like he was going to get away. They had his bride there. Eventually, he would be arrested.

Uncle Chip blathered:
You’ve dropped your IQ far enough for one month — why don’t you take the next month off.

That's all you got?

No response to me calling you on your dragging your disputes from thread to thread?

No response to the fact that the off-duty gunthug (who was wearing his Official Intimidation Costume anyway) "confronted" the firefighter peasant in a move which would have gotten a CCW peasant prison time?

I'm thinking the "dropping IQ" post was actually you talking to yourself...

Come back when you got game, Uncle ChipDip. In about a month, say...

It's about the all-important "CONFRONTING THE PEASANT" syndrome, nick.

As I posted to ChipDip above, a CCW peasant would go directly to prison for pulling the stunt the "hero" off-duty cop in his Official Magic Blue Costume did.

I'm thinking that the Founding Fathers would be dismayed at the numbers of police tax-ticks crawling the streets, "confronting" actual American citizens (or "civilians", as the faux-military police call them).

Did you notice in the article that the nurse called the dead peasant a "civilian"?

If I’m not mistaken, the cop is in a security guard uniform.

You ARE mistaken.....according to the article

"Hubbard, who was working security for the Marriott while wearing his Police Department uniform, saw the group arguing and saw Anthony Bruno leaving the area.

maybe I should have stayed in High Skrewel instead of testing out and going to college.

Might have helped with reading retention skills.

Now, I’m home I’m gonna slap that video up on the big screen and watch it.

thnx for the reminder....

and best of all when you are in that close proximity to your target, everyone gets hit.

Mace is a stand off weapon or used when you got plenty of blue holding down an uncooperative person and you can administer it safely without getting too much on anyone else.

I can see the whole thing now.

He was in uniform.

Looks like he was completely outclassed on floor work.

That was a classic “Firemans carry”. Perfect grip and hand positions.

To bad he couldn’t pin the officer who immediately upon landing on his back went for his gun.

The LEO was completely outclassed and probably should’ve waited for the posse.....

I see some folks have watched the video and are seconding guessing this cop's actions.

Perhaps he could have done some things different, but the bulk of the blame for what happened here goes to the drunk that got killed.

I was "confronted" by one of the Coercive Elite several years ago in a very low-speed traffic incident.

I tried to figure out what his deal was afterwards, then I started doing some reading...

You should try the whole "reading thing" sometime.

Looks like a perfect opportunity to use a taser. I wonder why the officer chose not to use it.

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.

There doesn't need to be a cop under every rock in a Free Republic.

That's all my point ever was. Even if that guy had managed to flee, his wife was standing with the group. They would have got him eventually.
