The face value of the Saddle Ridge Hoard, as they’ve called it, added up to about $27,000,

 

Back then US gold coins had a face value of $20. So going by today's prices this $27,000 in gold coins is worth about 1.4  million

dollars just goin by weight not rariety

No, there were many denominations in gold, starting at $5 IIRC. (I have one of those.)
