China. Are not all iPhones made now, in China?<

I am willing to be talked out of my anti-Apple mode at the moment.<

Please. Do show:<

No, not all iPhones are made in China and not all components of iPhones are made in China. In fact the glass is made by Carning. iPhones are also made in Brazil. Apple also manufactures all MacPros in Austin, Texas.

Apple is building a lot more facilities in the USA. Server farms in Oregon, Austin, expanding the North Carolina installation, and building the headquarters in California. They are assisting another company with capital in Arizona to expand their ability to grow the crystals for supplying Apple with the Sapphire screens by the hundreds of millions for the future iPhones and perhaps iPads. . . in the USA. Perhaps those will be exported to China and Brazil for Assembly, but parts that go into the iPhone come from over thirty countries including the US. NOT A SINGLE phone or computer is 100% made in the US. . . and probably at this time the only one 100% assembled here is the Apple MacPro, and all of its casing and frame is machined and finished in the plant in Texas.

Apple's VP did meet with Elon Musk, but it was probably not about acquisition. More likely they discussed using iOS in future cars.

What is Apple bringing to the party when it comes to running a battery company? Sure, they are a customer, but they have no particular expertise in what is a pretty low-tech industry.

You're wrong. Designing batteries that fit in the interstices of small necks and crannies to maximize power while minimizing weight and size is very high-tech and Apple is the best there is at doing that. Apple has done all the engineering on the batteries in their devices. They don't buy off-the-shelf pre-made sizes.Tesla wants to minimize the weight of their batteries, and minimize the space they take in their cars. Who better to talk to than the company that gets the best time out of the smallest batteries. It's a good match.

There are several synergies apparent between Apple and Tesla, in my estimation. First and foremost, design. They both make gorgeous machines. Second, intentional disruptiveness to the point that using the word revolutionary is not pure hyperbole. They both have had issues with L-Ion, however Apple has resolved, another reason to speculate.

Apple is not a car company and never will be, but they’re masters of industrial design and human interface design without compare in the modern era. I can see how Tesla could benefit from that. So can others, so the rumor gets spread and the speculation rolls on.
