The Brooklyn Nets' signing of free-agent center Jason Collins -- the first openly gay NBA player -- on Sunday came two weeks after University of Missouri defensive end Michael Sam announced he is gay.
While Sam won't make his official NFL debut until the fall, Collins, 35, will be in uniform for the Nets immediately. On Sunday, as Collins was on the verge of signing, Sam tweeted his support....

There’s still free speech. There is not going to be jail for anyone. But a private organization has the right to limit speech. You can say anything you want. But there are no protections against consequences from speech.

Keeping some track of the ongoing NFL Combine, I find Sam with a rating of 5.22, ( NFL backup or special teams potential ) about middle of the pack or average. Meaning if he were just a player with no hype, he could likely go undrafted. Should be interesting to see if a team bows to PC pressure instead of good football sense.
