Yes there is a very distinct difference between a rat and a rodent.
A rodent is a mouse and his cousins in the animal kingdom.
A rat is a polite term for a jack booted thug.
Both can be very destructive in our society.
It serves as a descriptive term for a once honorable (perhaps) but now vile and vicious political party.
