She Allegedly Went on a Simple Jog in Her Toe Shoes. So Why Did She End Up...in Handcuffs?
The Blaze ^ | February 21, 2014 | Dave Urbanski

It allegedly started with her jogging in her toe shoes and sporting headphones. It ended in video of her screaming and being led away in handcuffs. What happened in between is a matter of debate, but video showing parts of the incident is certainly gaining traction online.

Whatever the woman did to get the attention of Austin, Texas police, a witness’ video of cops detaining her on a city sidewalk Thursday morning then escorting her to a nearby squad car indicate she was not happy with their actions.

Student Chris Quintero, who the Daily Texan reported witnessed the arrest, said he saw the woman jogging with headphones on when police ran after her. When the woman failed to stop, the officer grabbed her by the arm and handcuffed her, Quintero said.

According to a statement to The Daily Texan from police spokeswoman Lisa Cortinas: “[In this case], the call is titled failure to identify.”

This is an example of fascism in action, but it is nothing at all like hitler’s treatment of Jews.

I wasn't commenting on the story itself, I was commenting on a poster saying "It's Austin, you might have to wear something that indicates your sexual preference."

I once saw “Cops in Texas”, I have never seen a cop run as fast as the fat cop on that episode did. All the cops in this episode were chubby/fat. Donuts! Ha!

So this Chief Acevedo is an LAPD reject?
It all becomes clear now.

[Thread-wide Ping]
I see the cops are twisting themselves into pretzels attempting to justify their bad actions in this incident. The poor “Heidi looking” young girl ends up with a record and a mug shot on the internet. But hey, at least the two brave cops (with their good, wise and sensible judgement) got home safely—that’s the important thing.

Here is a brochure detailing how you should interact with your local law-enforcement, made available by myself as a public-service:

You don’t really need to ping the entire thread when you post.

Sure, I don't need to... but I want to.

I do read them.
Heck, I even read replies to my posts.

No biggie. It had been awhile since I’ve seen the flyer. Just gets more like real life whenever I see it, though.

But really, rounding up all the names from a thread seems labor intensive, you really don’t have to do it.

:^)

This is for the folks who get upset with citizens suing the police.
It looks like Austin police chief Art Acevedo is a millionaire. While he was working for the California Highway patrol. He filed a million dollar lawsuit, and won.

http://calwatchdog.com/2011/06/03/of-course-chp-helped-arnold-cover-up/
FTA:
“Acevedo filed a whistleblower suit against the department, and in December 2007, the CSPB filed a lengthy report excoriating the actions of the former commissioner and his staff and agreeing that Acevedo had been retaliated against. Eventually, after Acevedo had already arrived in Austin, the CHP settled the suit for nearly $1 million.”

I got a GreaseMonkey script, FreeRepublic TreeViewer, that makes a button that pops the posters into a table format, I can copy that into a spreadsheet, select/copy the "poster" column into my word-processor, then search-and-replace the line-breaks with ';' — copy the result to the "To" box, done.

I could make it so that the button would do all the proper formatting, but (1) I'm lazy, (2) I don't really like JavaScript, and (3) having a multi-step process gives me time to abort [where a one-click solution wouldn't].

Thank you.
In a way I'm glad that they're relevant… in another way I'm rather saddened.
In any case, I'm working on a few more — the current project being titled The American Legal System.
