She Allegedly Went on a Simple Jog in Her Toe Shoes. So Why Did She End Up...in Handcuffs?

It allegedly started with her jogging in her toe shoes and sporting headphones. It ended in video of her screaming and being led away in handcuffs. What happened in between is a matter of debate, but video showing parts of the incident is certainly gaining traction online.

Whatever the woman did to get the attention of Austin, Texas police, a witness’ video of cops detaining her on a city sidewalk Thursday morning then escorting her to a nearby squad car indicate she was not happy with their actions.

Student Chris Quintero, who the Daily Texan reported witnessed the arrest, said he saw the woman jogging with headphones on when police ran after her. When the woman failed to stop, the officer grabbed her by the arm and handcuffed her, Quintero said.

According to a statement to The Daily Texan from police spokeswoman Lisa Cortinas: “[In this case], the call is titled failure to identify.”

HA. You think the cops care about the gangs? They know where the money comes from. That’s from YOU citizens violating ridiculous city ordinances like not moving your car. One morning I woke up and nearly every car in the neighborhood had a parking ticket. They did a midnight raid going as far as measuring curb distance. I had a parking ticket for parking the wrong way IN MY OWN DRIVEWAY!!!

“My kids are fairly not-stupid. They’d figure it out eventually. There is an estate after all.”

Kids cruise morgue looking for a John Doe who fits dads description...good plot for a comedy movie.

This is an example of fascism in action, but it is nothing at all like hitler’s treatment of Jews.

for wearing the stupidest shoes ever made

Look at my previous post (186). I always tell people that "barefoot" running works because God knows more about how feet work than Nike does!

Seems like a “you can’t get there from here” or circular reasoning situation to me. But what do I know; I’ve never been able to understand progressives’ logic.

It's like seeing someone booked, where the only charge is resisting arrest. Happens frequently.

Enough insurance payouts to Austinites under Art Acevedo’s rule of thuggery might get him replaced.

In Acevedo’s mind - we dredged him from LAPD - everybody’s a criminal.

He’s narcissistic, and probably a paranoid schizophrenic... which attracts officers who relish and thrive on the beat down.

His officers harass UT players like they’re mafioso, but going after this innocent lily white rich girl is probably going to bring him down.

Then he’ll be off to some other town to generate revenue.

“...A ticketable offense is technically an arrest....”
******************************************************************
Gee, I guess I’ve been lying whenever, on a personal history statement, I answered with a firm “NO” to the question “Have You Ever Been Arrested?”. Since I have received speeding and parking tickets, I must have been arrested. Fortunately, all the background investigators always somehow missed those lies.

I see the cops are twisting themselves into pretzels attempting to justify their bad actions in this incident. The poor “Heidi looking” young girl ends up with a record and a mug shot on the internet. But hey, at least the two brave cops (with their good, wise and sensible judgement) got home safely—that’s the important thing.

They generally word the questions so as to exclude traffic and minor violations. But, technically, you are arrested and the ticket which you have to sign is your being released on your own recognizance and promising to either pay the fine or appear in court.

That’s why if you refuse to sign the ticket they threaten to take you into custody.

.......Sir, like I said, I have been stopped by this specific police force in all my years here many, many times. Indeed, from 16 to 65 with the last time one week ago (got a warning, yay!). That experience with them has taught me that some are professional and some are dumb as a post.

Now, how you make the leap from that statement of mine to “you seem to believe cops are courteous from the get go”..............I can’t fathom. Sorry.

Agreed!

When they stop me, I so much don’t want to make the situation worse and risk getting “handled” by the police that I don’t say ANYTHING! You never know when your going to get the guy that is professional and intelligent or the one that is “dumb as a post”.

Well you make a good point. We’ve often debated whether more bad things happen now, or do we just find out about them. And that was long before the advances you mention or the internet.

Austin is a nearly perfect city. No crime and perfect safety, well, that is except for the jaywalkers.
