What so many of the 'You can't fight tanks and jets with your stupid guns, guntards' miss is the larger picture:

The moment that tanks and jet fighters attack US civilians, it'll be broadcast across the planet in realtime, and at that instant the United States isn't the United States anymore. It'll be the end of full faith and credit and respect in anything and everything related to the United States of America by both our allies and enemies. It'll set chaos in motion to the point that the government will have it's hands so full of problems that they'll almost immediately seek to undo what they unraveled in the first place.

To start: the Oligarchs who declare what the US dollar is worth just because they say what the US dollar is worth won't be able to control that anymore. Not when everywhere in America looks like Waco.

Besides, there won't be a shooting campaign if 'Civil War II' were ever to happen here. It'd be a constant bombing campaign like the Baader-Meinhof/Rote Armee Faktion gang of 1970s Europe magnified times 100,000 and far more effective. Every town in America will have it's own seething IRA gang. Every government entity down to the very last US Postal Service mailbox would be regarded as an enemy target.

Sooner rather than later, the homes of the families and friends of law enforcement and soldiers would be identified. Hit lists would spring up on Twitter and Google Maps. Soldiers would have a choice between bivouacing indefinitely near power stations and bridges and airports to prop up the rotten government who's simultaneously ordering the mass murder of US citizens or going home to their own families. The Highway Patrol wouldn't dare venture out onto highways. The kids in the National Guard would say "I didn't sign up for this crap."

Almost immediately, the world would see how weak and ineffective the domestic power of the US government is. All they'd be holding is a bunch of useless laws written on worthless paper in their hands next to ever-increasingly worthless piles of paper treasury notes. By comparison, Mexico would look like a stable country. Canada might become an instant super power overnight.

This nation -- particularly the urban metro liberals -- couldn't endure thirty days without power and water and groceries and Venti lattes and CVS Pharmacy and Costco and Whole Foods and cigarettes and liquor and Netflix and having to go to a natural running stream to refill their bong water.

... and from the depths of Hell, Osama bin Laden will be laughing proudly of his achievement that he set in motion to shatter the United States into fifty powerless fractured Balkanized fiefdoms, just as he prophesied.

Anyone and everyone who hopes for some idiotic 'Civil War II' -- Progressives versus hated Conservatives and vice-versa -- needs to take a BIG step back and rid their minds of the poisonous notion of raising weapons against their fellow countrymen. Absolutely everyone from top to bottom will be immediately sorry it happened the moment it began.

I will have nothing to do with it.

Nothing is going to be broadcast real-time. You forgot about the Internet Kill Switch and the "monitors" in the nation's newsrooms.

The only voice that will be explaining anything will be the government's.

I agree and disagree. War is a terrible thing, and the far left will be shocked at how terrible it is for everyone, including themselves and their families, if they provoke CWII (we won't be happy either). However, war is the right choice when all other options are even worse. The trick for America's enemies is to move slowly enough that decent people always assume immediate war would be worse than giving up just a little more freedom in return for peace in our time. So far, America's domestic enemies are doing a pretty good job.

Dude, the US military isn't big enough to subdue one state the size of Tennessee, let alone the entire USA. You read to much fiction. Lets say there are 5000 main battle tanks in the USArmy arsenal. That is assuming they aren't deployed overseas but here. Do the math, divide 5000 by 50 states. 100 tanks is not enough to patrol a mid sized city let alone AN ENTIRE STATE. The US military is perfect for defeating a foreign Army of one country at a time, not taking on the ENTIRE USA How many soldiers will defect half - maybe all? What a stupid post you cobbled together.

There's a difference between hope and need — the founders were patriotic Englishmen who stood up against their government when classically-recognized rights were denied. The Declaration spells out that the colonies did pursue peaceful resolutions, and that they suffered many abuses from their government which were rejected, rebuffed, and sometimes retaliated against.

It is in vain, sir, to extenuate the matter. Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace²but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!

I think also there will be a panic in the rest of the world, maybe if that CWII scenario would pass, it could cause a chain reaction and destablize other nations to the point of them having their civil wars too. Some nations who remain stable or reasonably so, will have a great fear, who controls our nukes? The Russians, Red Chinese, maybe even the Indians, the UK and French and a few others would want to try to seize our nukes somehow and failing that, ala the John Titor story, might launch a limited strike to take them out or what’s left of the nation’s leadership to hopefully stop any orders to launch them. I know if I was Putin, the Red Chinese leader or even part of NATO, that alone would be a concern of mine. Mexico and Canada would have a hard time controlling the borders stopping Americans from fleeing, are the Mexican/Canadian border patrols along with their armies, strong enough?
