Nothing new, the late Chicago Sun Times columnist Carl “Quick-draw” Rowan was a rabid anti-gun nut. Like Rosie O’Donnell he favored laws that said any private citizen possessing a handgun should go to jail-period...at least until he blazed away at some skinny-dipping kids who sneaked into his compound-like home to use his pool. After shooting one of the trespassers in the wrist (he told police he was aiming at the ground!) his excuse for having the illegally-owned pistol obtained by his son, a former FBI agent, was that he had received threats and didn’t believe the police took him seriously. He stated at his trial that he had a right to defend himself and his family. BTW, his trial for this possession ended in a mistrial, and the prosecutor declined to re-try him.
