Exactly right. Even if decent people lose nationwide on this, I will never recognize gay "marriage" as anything other than a sham. It is in no way connected to holy matrimony, and it never will be.

The State has replaced, or supplements, God as man’s savior, in the eyes of the Left, Right, Church, and atheists. For these Statists, blessings like Marriage apparently need the State for validation.
If you disagree, ask yourself if you could stand for government getting out of Marriage altogether, other than enforcing contracts. What if employers and businesses could be free to decide how to treat hetero-, homo-, or whatever contracts?
Defining a union between members of the same sex a marriage is like declaring the tomato to be a vegetable just because it is displayed in the vegetable section of the produce department.
