I think so, too. I would also bet dollars to donuts that she employed poor trigger discipline, already had her finger on the trigger, was startled by the boy, flinched and shot him.

That was my first thought. Why would she have her gun drawn? If she didn't, then she sure reacted strangely. What a great profession LE has turned into - no need to accept any risk. Ever.

This dufus female had been promised a shoot and had not got one in the month she had been on the force. She finally got her opportunity. Now she gets a paid vacation, high fives all around the office and an award for bravery. The department has not yet commended her for acting exactly according to training but they will.

And yes she surely had her gun out and her finger on the trigger when she knocked on the door.
