As for the Beastie Boys, they had some clever, obscure references to pop culture in their “Pauls Boutique” Album and Run DMC rarely, if ever, used any foul language and was more of a fusion of rock and rap with a positive message, unlike 99% of rap “musicians” nowadays.

“King of Rock” is a great album.

As far as Rap goes Run DMC is OK. They were indeed at least clean/positive. But rock they aint. Lots of other genre artists throw in some other stuff for crossover and I get it, but how one gets in to a ‘legit’ hall of fame by merely adding outside influences via a distorted guitar riff is beyond me. Of course there IS no legit HOF with them or anyone else in it.
