High Point Carbine (9mm, 40 S&W, .45 acp) — Excellent value for around $300.00

Yep. It is an excellent and affordable little rifle but it is hardly an "assault rifle". As it is in a pistol caliber it is quite easy for a woman to shoot and control which makes it very good for home defense. It is also deadly and these thugs were darned lucky she wasn't aiming it at them even though she should have been.

Before Obama took office, you could get these carbines brand new for $145.
I believe the 9mm takes 15 rd mags.

I have been very seriously considering buying a high point carbine or a keltec Sub 2000. The Keltec is a little more expensive but is foldable ; whereas, the High Point is more affordable and rugged.
