Yes, for the region the rapid awakening of St. Helens con be well explained by this. The Pacific Northwest is full of potential. 80 miles to the east of us is Crater Lake and north of that The Three Sisters, Mt Hood, Mt Adams and dozens of lesser known volcanos. To the South there are Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen. The most strikingly beautiful volcano and the most dangerous is Mt Ranier. Fun times in store for all.

If you really want to sweat a geologic hazard, just imagine the M9 when the Cascadia Subduction Zone unzips from Vancouver Island all the way to the California border. Going to be pretty nasty.
