True. But given what we see of the dem party today, it does not matter the characters are not made to depict real life democrats. It is all credible and believable. After the Clintons, Obama and Pelosi none of what happens seems fantastic because you can find events in real life in the democrat party that precisely parallel what happens in the Houe of Cards. That is not to say the Republicans are saints of course not but it is nice for a change to see the democrats being depicted as the sleazoids they are. So much of the media and Hollywood always insulates them from all criticism.

When he knows that her friends are on to him?

It’s simply engaging fiction that those who want to read into it can.
