I have been approached by Girl Scouts at three different locations in the past two days to buy cookies.
I didn’t feel comfortable saying anything to the young girls as they will simply re-mouth what the moms and leaders say. Furthermore, there is nothing we could say that couldn’t be misconstrued into the children believing we were crazy or bullies.
We just said nothing, kept walking and voted with our feet.
I will simply say “Wendy Davis” and keep walking. The mothers will know what I’m talking about.
I think you did the right thing. An adult should never get into any kind of confrontation with a child they don’t know.
You are not being a bully if if say anything without hate or anger in your tone of voice. I do believe you should give a reason as to why you won’t buy the cookies. The girls will tell the leaders, who will tell the area supervisor, who will tell the higher ups. Only when cookie sales drop will GSA get a clue and drop Planned Parenthood like a hot potato.
Bingo. The little girls are largely innocent in this, and we shouldn’t berate the organization in front of them. I have to bite my tongue and walk on by, letting that me my indication of disapproval.
As do I. The little ones have no clue about any of this and some of those mothers might just be conservatives.
Take it out on the Leadership.
Agreed, let the girls be girls and avoid politics within their earshot.
