John Cornyn and the Tiny Elephant in the Room (Rove Comments at Cornyn Rally..)
Slate ^ | 2/17/12 | David Weigel

"JOHN CORNYN RALLY," read the LED billboard outside the Maude Cobb convention center. "NEAL MCCOY CONCERT." After 3 p.m., around a thousand local Republican activists started lining up for all of it. For $25, they could watch a local hero country singer perform a full show, collect all the GOP swag they wanted (in Cornyn tote bags), crack open free peanuts and sodas -- oh, yes, and to meet Texas's senior senator. If they parted with four figures, they could talk to Cornyn and Karl Rove at a private reception before the show.

-snip-

At the Longview rally, Karl Rove took it upon himself to defend Cornyn. "Don't let anything keep you from voting for this man," he told the crowd. "I know what his colleagues think of him. They know him as a strong conservative. There's this group called National Journal magazine, which looks at every single member of Congress and how they vote. Two years ago, John Cornyn was ranked the most conservative member of the United States Senate. This year, he's fallen all the way to number two."

Rove waited for the laughs and returned to his point -- people he talks to "regularly" in Washington want Cornyn in the Senate. "They respect him enormously. They know he's an incredibly thoughtful guy."

John Cornyn claims to be the 2nd most conservative member of the Senate.

Yet, as Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, he
hand-selected these "Republican" candidates:
  • Arlen Specter - Democrat
  • Charlie Crist - Democrat
  • Lincoln Chafee - Democrat
  • Lisa Murkowski - Independent

Also, when he had a chance to stop ObamaCare by supporting Ted Cruz' filibuster

he FAILED

and hid behind a meaningless vote later.

He pulled the same trick on the Senate amnesty bill
and again on raising the debt limit.

Since he is not listening to conservatives he must be talking to the Democrat extremist. No wonder they think he is conservative in DC.

I think the litmus test for conservatives should be if the candidate thinks the federal government needs to be fixed, or if it needs to be reduced to it's constitutionally mandated authority.

This unwieldy behemoth devours our wealth and our freedoms in return for a clown show that is not funny. This country is suffering permanent damage. The trillions that we are wasting are not coming back. The damage to the educational systems and the crippling of our culture and our economy may be irreparable.

>> I wouldn’t let my bird crap on Karl Rove.

That’s harsh, man.

I would CERTAINLY let MY bird crap ALL OVER Karl Rove.

I would let every animal I own crap on him.

I would rent out a zoo for a week, just so the elephants and giraffes could crap on him.

After burying him under a ginormous steaming pile, we could find out if he really IS a turd blossom.

You know your not a conservative when
1. Karl Rove is the guest speaker at your fund-raiser.
2. Rove starts touting your conservative rating from some rag.
3. SLATE runs a puff piece on you.

It’s over John, go home and don’t come back.

Shove the whiteboard up Tokyo Rove’s smelly Soetoro hole horizontal and snap it in half.

Karl Rove is a kiss of death among conservatives.

Shows how out of touch Cornyn is with the Texas conservative voter.
