We chose our instructor based on the referral of a good friend of mine and were very happy with the training we received along with our trainers personal touch.
There are alot of "fly by night" CCW Training Schools popping up in Illinois, many of them doing the 'bare minimum' required. Our CCW Trainer walked us through the entire NRA Basic Firearms course and helped us achieve our NRA Basic Firearms Certification as part of his course. Many CCW Trainers are not doing that.
Even though I'm fairly proficient in rifles, my handgun experience didn't match my rifle experience so I wanted that level of training. The NRA Basic Firearms course I thought was very good, and "won me over" enough that we're also joining the NRA - an organization that I've been highly critical of here on FR.
If any Illinois Freepers are taking their CCW Training, insist on the NRA Basic Firearms training as part of your CCW Certification - it was well worth the extra bit of time.
Congratulations!!!
It must be rough for people living in Southern Illinois. They are pretty conservative but totally under the thumb of Chicago.
When will your actual permit arrive? Have any other folks from IL recieved their permits yet? What are your total costs? How long is the permit good for?
I will offer congratulations as I’m sure it was time well spent.
Outside of that I see a few 2A infringements that are unconstitutional.
I just finished my certification and training course in the Quad Cities and also found the training and information to be top notch. By the way, I got only one wrong on the test. My brain had a “misfire.”
none needed in WA. getting a permit here is hassle free.
very proud of
a) my motorcycle endorsement
b) my CW
c) my 4 yr degree
Congrats. Stiff fee for it too.
Not for CCW( been 42 years since I touched a weapon) but I have article2 (range in lombard) weapons training coming up end of April. Classes are absolutely booked. I’m going to ask if any of it can be applied toward CCW hours.
Good for you and the Mrs.
I don’t recall the Constitution though, saying anything about ‘certification’ with regard to any of our other God given rights.
As far as I’m concerned, the Feral gummint can go to hell.
Congrats! You’ve become yet another piece of data in the “0Bama Regime: Gun Salesman of the decade” statistics. As did I (received my Indiana lifetime carry very recently). I don’t have a handgun yet but have been looking for a personal carry. Time to join the NRA too.
Congratulations!
Outstanding!
Thanks for stepping up and joining our ranks!
“... uploaded to the Illinois State Police, completing filing of our CCW Permits.”
Congrats ... please follow up on line with when you “actually receive” your CCW permits. Not to be a downer but I’m guessing 20 - 30 follow up calls and 9 - 12 months.
Got FL CCW in 2010 and Utah CCW in 2013 (reciprocity in WI). Filed the IL paperwork electronically first week of January. Supposedly, 90 days is expected time we will receive the permits; I’ll believe it when I see it.
My only issue is that I had to download Java to use the State Police website. Since I wasn’t willing to do so due to concerns about Java, I used the PC at a friend’s office to file.
Congratulations to you and your wife. I was able to enlist 16 Chicagoans and 10 suburbanites, including 3 women, to join our ranks.
There are 102 counties in IL. Most folks outside this state do not know how loathed and despised Cook County (Chicago) and Sagamon County (Springfield) are by the other 100 counties.
Congratulations! And welcome to the clubs.
