Thanks reminds me of this young guy that I worked with back in the early 1990’s.

He said “You know when you’re in an elevator with a group of Japanese and they are all talking, in Japanese ? “And you think they are talking about you ?”

“They Are”

This young guy, very very smart All-American kid, spoke Japanese fluently.

He calmly waited until they exited the elevator and replied back to their utter amazement.

A friend of a friend was walking down the street in Tokyo and a gaggle of Japanese gals was behind him wondering if everything on him was proportional to his gajin height, he turned around and assured them in his excellent Japanese that it was indeed.

They all screamed!

My former boss was fluent and worked in Japan for many years, but he definitely looked like a gaijin. Big guy, balding, wire-rimmed glasses, blue eyes.

He was at a baseball game, and there were a couple of guys behind him talking about him in Japanese. He said they were discussing loudly how disgusting he looked, and how revolting he smelled.

He said he turned around to them and said in the most polite, sincere, and subservient tone, that he was sincerely sorry for ruining their atmosphere at the game, and would be happy to move to another seat.

He said they were flabbergasted and couldn’t utter a word, then they looked completely shamed.
