Seriously? This made the news?
Yup! The story ran right after “Slow News Day Threatens Local Reporters’ Jobs” and before “Chewed Gum Found Stuck To Bottoms of Diego High School Bleachers.”
Agreed - this is shouldn’t be news.
“she said what happened to her Tuesday afternoon at Kiels grocery store scared her”.
Granted, I’d shake the hand of a guy who would punch this jerk in the nose, but seriously? She was scared? That’s newsworthy? Heck my daughter should have been in the news multiple times, if that serves as criterion.
Everybody loves to play the victim card. "Look at me, look at me, something bad happened to me, I'm a victim. Feel sorry for me. Call the media." They had already filed a police report, so they had called the cops, what did they honestly think calling the media was going to do, other than garner attention and sympathy? What the grumpy old man did was inexcusable, but mom is an attention whore. The lesson she taught her daughter is worse than the verbal abuse she endured. Mom had a perfect opportunity to teach her daughter that there are unpleasant people in this world, and although you sometimes interact with them, you don't have to own their issues or let their issues negatively impact you. Mom had the opportunity to teach her daughter to be a strong, independent-thinking young woman who won't be pushed around by others. Instead, she taught her to be a victim, to be afraid, and to run to somebody else to "tattle" about what happened to her.
