Beathard was OK, but Shula came into a great organization that was willing to do what it took to win. In addition to Griese and Csonka, the Dolphins had Larry Little, Nick Buoniconti, and Paul Warfield. That’s five future hall of famers he had to work with.

Yes, Spurrier would have done a lot better in Miami than San Francisco.

I was joking about Spurrier.

As a pro, he threw 40 TD’s and 60 INT’s.

But, I'm a life long UFlorida fan, so all of us still love the guy as a college player and college coach.

I looked up Beathard in Wiki.

Yikes - say goodbye to my memory!

I thought he was with the Dolphins for years and drafted all the really excellent players Miami had in the later 70’s and early 80’s.

Nope - just there in ‘72-'73.

He drafted about 34 players (17 Rounds in those years!).

Only Don Strock (5th Round) had a measurable impact on the team.

And, in spite of some great games, Strock was just too inconsistent to be a top tier NFL QB.
