A woman has been arrested after a toddler she was caring for was found inside a filthy storage unit with no water and little food.
Collier County Sheriff's deputies arrested the 44-year-old woman on Wednesday. She faces a felony child neglect charge.
I took it as an insult.
The woman on the phone pretty much told my daughter to “fib” and say we were charging them $500 a month rent, an maybe they could get a whopping 17 bucks a week!
At that point it was like FU! we’ll eat hot dogs, mac & cheese and brown rice and beans like we used to back when my hubby was a 2-striper in the Air Force before we come to you again.
Thank you. “The prayers of a righteous one availeth much.” I appreciate it.
Lived in a 42 footer for 2+ years in Iraq. Even had a roommate at the other end. Bullet-proof, with a full bathroom in the center. Pretty sweet for Camp Victory. Incoming mortars were a bit stressful when they walked the nearby LZ. And I HEARD Paki and Indian nuke tests coming up from the ground while trying to get to sleep in the hooch. Sounded like a huge sledgehammer hitting a metal floor 100’ away. Hurt my ears!
I was homeless for awhile in the mid 80s. I came very close to suicide. Prayer kept me going a few minutes at a time. It was a long climb out of that hole. I’m grateful today.
The other night as I was walking home, I saw a twentysomething man, healthy and able-bodied, at the locked gate of a fenced-off area surrounding a freeway berm. He pulled on a watch cap and a hard hat with a light on it, and climbed over the fence. That area has had several postings by police warning people to abandon illegal campsites. This fellow found a good hideaway out of sight of police. He'd likely stashed his bedroll and tent deep in the undergrowth (which, outside of the locked gate, had previously provided shelter for other transients and has since been cut down).
Lifting you in prayer. Sorry to hear of your troubles. Praying things turn around, fast.
I wonder if ‘Storage Wars’ would do a show where one of its unit had a homeless mom and kids in it. I heard the news about her, Naples is an upper income area.
Those trailers look like it’s for the upper income people. The trailers should be 1930s vintage.
Those are older trailers, probably 1960’s or early 70’s. The newer ones can be very nice. I sold them about 12 years ago and there were several models I’d have no problem living in.
Zimbabwe?? Don’t insult Zimbabwe with us. I read that freedom house raised their ranking and we fell.
The people behind the desk will go home to their warm place, eat reasonably well if they so choose, and probably watch some TV before curling up in bed until the morning. The "client" is just another sheaf of paperwork to most, another checkmark on the page and another case in the file--IOW, job security.
If you worked and genuinely became disabled, if you lost a decent paying job, if you have any assets, you could be in for a long wait. The five star cases are the ones which keep on going, same names and stuff, even through generations, not the ones who are looking to get back on their feet and out of the system.
If you are the latter, don't expect much.
Now that the POTUS is black, this type of story is forbidden.
If the Prez is white Republican, then regardless of the condition of the economy this type of story will be liberally splashed around all day long —waaa, waaa, waaa.
But NOW?
Nah, it’s weird for it to get reported at all.
I thought that once a storage unit became a living facility, the owner of the unit had to clean it up and provide amenities...
