The Filer Police Department claims it was a justifiable shooting, but an outraged Rick Clubb plans to sue, saying, 'Maybe I deserve a ticket, but I don't deserve a dead dog.'
An Idaho police officer was caught on video fatally shooting a dog just yards away from the house where a birthday party was being held for the owner's 9-year-old son.
Dashcam video shows Officer Tarek Hassani of the Filer Police Department approaching dogs on the street and shooting Rick Clubb's 7-year-old black Lab.
He didnt have to pull out his .45 and shoot my dog, Clubb told the Times-News, which obtained the video. It was right outside my sons bedroom. What if it had ricocheted through the window?
Authorities say the dog was being hostile and that the shooting was justified. A neighbor had called the cops to complain about the loose dogs.
"(Officer Hassani) tried to get out of his car, both dogs aggressed him at his door, he managed to get out of his car and had to kick one of the dogs away, Filer Police Chief Tim Reeves told KMVT.
Hassani tried to make it to the house to speak with Clubb, Reeves said, but never made it. In the video, Officer Hassani can be heard screaming "get back" at the dogs.
"Finally when he kept trying to come up to the house to talk to the owner, to get the owner to take control of the dogs he ended up having to shoot the dog for his own safety," Reeves said. "We never want to have to shoot a dog but sometimes it happens.
Clubb told the Times-News that he has Parkinson's disease and that "Hooch" was his training dog. He was given a ticket for allowing the dogs to run free. He plans to fight it.
"Im going to sue them, Im going to sue the City of Filer and the police chief and officer," Clubb told KMVT. "Maybe I deserve a ticket, but I don't deserve a dead dog."
I'm sorry, I watched the video and this officer had no call to shoot this dog. I've been barked at worse than this, and I have never been bitten. The dog was barking, but keeping it's distance. The officer seems to have anger issues.
If this is justification, police officer should shoot people who yell at them.
When a cop has a gun in his hand, every dog is Old Yeller.
Trek Hassani?
Sounds like a raghead. That explains everything.
That just proves the “shoot all dogs” policy is working.
The comments are frightening.
The behavior of the dogs on the part of the video I see is perfectly normal. Dogs will bark at strangers coming onto their property. They didn’t even look particularly aggressive, just making noise to alert someone. The cop was the aggressor in elevating the situation taking a kick at them.
Not saying the cop didn’t feel threatened, but if he did feel threatened enough to shoot over this, how will he react under more stress in a situation involving real people? Does this cop have the temperament for the job?
10 to 1 this pig called in an ‘anonynous’ report after observing them, thereby being sent to respond.
Alos, did you notice he points the gun at the dogs to “scare” them? Does he realize that pointing a gun means nothing to a dog?
What did they say?
People from SandRat Turd world nations dont likey the dogs.
Who are those people?
There are plenty of dogs shot, but most police are not Middle Eastern.
Why was the dog run around loose outside unattended?
The dogs were in their yard. The owner is in a wheel chairm by the way.
Civilian dogs = zero
Police dogs=officer
Balance this equation and the problem will be solved.IMO
Really really tired of dog-shooting cops.
