My favourite (?!) is the common phrase 'mas o menos', which in Cocle becomes one portmanteau word, to wit, 'maomeno'. First time I figured it out, I LOLed. The Panameno gent was, shall we say, nonplussed.
When my daughter was in Panama, she said she could read the signs but not understand the people. Many spoke English, of course, including one who said he would sell her an AK-47 because she was the cutest redhead in Panama City.
Some of my Mexican friends drop the final “s” as well. It’s a very common thing to happen in language-change.
