Like most all Sinatra films, the acting was at best workmanlike and the plotting simple, with superfluous bits thrown in just to make Sinatra look better. Watch it as a period piece and you will enjoy it, but The Big Sleep or The Maltese Falcon it ain't.

I agree about the movie The Detective. I did like it though.

But see post 10.

The sequel I mention, Nothing Lasts Forever, is available on Kindle and I’m reading it for the second time. Definitely worth a look.

Just watched “From Here to Eternity” last night. I always enjoy the scene where Ernest Borgnine beats Sinatra to death
