Did you see this article just posted? I think your About page had a link to it...Ghent Altarpiece, by Jan van Eyck.

Thank you so much!
Joe Pro Bono and The Cajun have done marvelous things with the original, since I first posted it.

Then you d hate Mozart and Beethoven.
Mainstream ain’t eclectic.
At last Bach didn't simulate intercourse with his instruments and destroy them afterward.
Perhaps, and it would be my fault. But hatred is something else. Praise and blame are the traditional words.
The culture has gone into the gutter in 100 years, when some pop group playing three chord disposable candy is considered the central monument of it. From Scott Joplin, and sheet music sold to people to played instruments at home, to mass produced silly tunes with kindergarten lyrics about holding hands.
At least, we still have the likes of Philip Glass, Steve Reich, and Yo Yo Ma (among others unknown to the Beatlemaniac “musicologists”) for the non-philistines.
Indeed...
Pete Townshend allegedly went up to him once and asked him if he could have a piece of the guitar that Hendrix set on fire, saying "Jimmy, you're kind of my idol, you know?" Hendrix was said to reply: "Sure, you want me to autograph it for you too...Honkie?"
However, much of that was probably just bravado and razzing. Hendrix was fiercely competitive, but also such an incredible artist. He worked at it also. A former roommate said he practiced guitar all the time. He said even in "the loo" Jimmy would bring the guitar with him and practice. He walked around all the time playing.
Amen.
I remember when "rap" was coming on the scene, and I got into a discussion with people about it. I said they could not play their own instruments, they ripped off melodies from other artists because they could not write their own music, the lyrics were nothing but violence and filth, and they were so full of themselves that there was absolutely nothing redeeming about their character.
I was just called a "racist" and then the conversation sort of ended.
Whether we like “destructive narcissists” or not is often irrelevant to whether or not they are great talents. Jack London was a drunk. Still a great writer.
I don’t doubt it-—and it probably depends on when you catch one of these guys (if on a drug high, or low, their attitudes can swing pretty wildly). I thought Hendrix mistreated Redding and Mitchell, but honestly they weren’t in his league. Unfortunately, Buddy Miles was a plodder who was two steps down from Mitchell. Hendrix never really played with a group of equals the way Beck and Clapton did. I think that brings out the best in you as a musician.
Good, then you can forget about what I like. In the meantime, remember that the Beatles were one of the significant negative influences on the American mind.
Doubt it, unless you think Mozart was a negative influence on the European mind.
We don’t emulate Mozart as a person with views on freedom.
You don’t? The Europeans certainly did, especially the Austrians.
