[Live Bond Hearing -- continuation from Wednesday]
(Excerpt) Read more at myfoxtampabay.com ...
Thanks for the article. Waiting for the usual suspects to show up and get their panties in a wad.
The taped interview with Reeves after he was read his rights is being played in court now.
He says when he sat down his wife handed him a bag of popcorn and doesn’t remember what happened to it during the incident.
He says he put his left arm out in front to hold him back as he come over the seat after him, as he reached into his pocket with his right hand.
He says that he was actually sitting in front of his wife not directly in front of him — so he was at an angle.
This is very unusual for a bond hearing.
It’s like a trial with all the witnesses and objections and all the evidence is being presented.
All they need is a jury.
Tape of Mrs Reeves interview is being played now.
The Boyz-N-Blue close ranks.
And, they are rank, indeed.
She did not see Curtis hit in the face with anything as he claimed.
She doesn’t know why her husband shot him.
Neither she nor Curtis mention popcorn being thrown and she confirms that Curtis had a bag of popcorn in his hand.
Thanks for the ping.
Help me out here, I haven’t followed this, was the victim a minority?
I didn’t see anything explaining details at the link.
Thank You
Nully, I will give you or bobby the pleasure of pinging Alaska wolf. I am sure he can get some pleasure doing what he does best.
Hamilton said that right after the shooting, he acted quickly to take the gun from Reeves -- who was sitting, as he'd been during the shooting -- and subdue him.
Before more authorities arrived, Reeves' wife told her husband "that was no cause to shoot anyone," according to Hamilton, the law enforcement officer who was then off-duty.
Reeves responded by pointing his finger at her and saying, according to Hamilton, "You shut your f**king mouth and don't say another word."
The off-duty corporal said that at one point, Reeves pushed back his glasses and said out loud, "Holy f**k, what have I done?"
Sounds like Reeves was aching to prove himself as more powerful than others and probably did his best work at home. His account that the other guy came over the seats at him doesn't seem to jibe with the victim's wife getting her hand in the path of the bullet.
Either way - he is criminally stupid. Carrying a weapon puts some responsibilities upon one - like not getting so passionately involved in such a petty situation and being the main ignition for it escalating into a killing. I willingly stay out of serious arguments when carrying (almost always) just because I don't want to be the one to incite a stupid incident that results in a lost life - dis me all you want; my skin is thick and I won't shoot you for it, especially before the actual movie starts....
Nicole Oulson said on the View yesterday that she did not see any popcorn thrown though two witnesses claim to have seen it.
Was that bag of popcorn they saw Curtis Reeves’??? Did he throw it just before pulling his weapon???
Both Reeves admit that Curtis had a bag of popcorn in his hand. Neither of them say anything about popcorn being thrown prior to the shooting.
pass the popcorn ping...
I imagine that were I holding a bag of popcorn when someone shot me, I'd spill or throw some of it. Maybe all of it.
This is the first time I’ve seen proof that text dude got out of his seat and turned around. That was a very aggressive move. Remember the retired cop had just returned from the lobby so his vision would not have acclimated to the dark. The vision of the elderly doesn’t acclimate as quickly as younger people. I wonder if the retired cop has cataracts or the beginnings of cataracts.
The retired cop was obviously as surprised as anyone judging from his statements and actions right after the shot. Top athletes drill on committing reactions to muscle memory. Actions are turned into habits which are stored in the basal ganglia. Cops drill the same way as athletes.
Text dude hit the suicide by cop trifecta when he jumped up, turned around and “lost” control of his popcorn. Everyone there stated the shot happened very, very fast. It was a self defense reaction based on habit.
If elderly retired cop is so trigger happy and reactionary, then he is a menace to society and should be behind bars. He killed a man in the prime of his life because he was trigger happy.
You sound like a blue uniform guy.
Curtis Reeves dropped his I-Phone during this incident — it was on the floor at his feet.
So here he is criticizing a guy for having his phone out and yet his was obviously in his hand when this event took place.
So he had a bag of popcorn in one hand and his I-Phone in the other hand. So then which hand did he use to reach into his pocket to get his weapon??
It is entirely possible from these tapes that the bag of popcorn was thrown by Reeves and blocked by Oulson so that it only appeared to witnesses as if Oulson threw it.
There goes the popcorn defense.
I’ve never been in law enforcement. Nor have any of my family. As a coincidence I was in the middle of reading a book titled, The Power of Habit when the shooting occurred.
Thanks to a man who had brain damage, scientists recently learned where habits reside in the brain. They reside where conscious thought doesn’t apply.
That’s why the retired cop didn’t do a show and tell with the gun. He was on automatic. Same happens with some veterans. You don’t want to wake them out of a deep sleep or make a sudden loud noise around them.
Really!!!
So then you didn't know that he had been shot in the chest???
