In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
neologize \ nee-OL-uh-jahyz \ , verb
1. to make or use new words or create new meanings for existing words.
2. to devise or accept new religious doctrines.
Example sentences:
Scientists at Northwestern University, inspired by the faux pundits ability to neologize, created a set of nouns for Colbertian, which they could use to test the effects of bilingualism.
-- Amina Khan, Bilingualism: Stephen Colbert's 'truthiness' inspires a language, The Los Angeles Times, 2012
In the meanwhile, necessity obliges us to neologize.
-- Thomas Jefferson, To John Waldo, 1813, Jefferson: Political Writings , 1999
Etymology:
Neologize joins the Greek neo meaning "new" with a variant on logy , a combining form derived from the Greek logos meaning "word, speech, discourse, reason." This verb entered English in the early 1800s.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
but he does have heart, unlike Semin, who truly fit that stereotype much more.
Then he needs to demonstrate it and not just after he scores a goal. Remember the last Olympics? The Russian team looked bored to death. He and Sasha needed to be split up.
What’s fun to do while it’s snowing? Gardening! I just spent the last hour in the solarium, pruning back all my plants that were falling all over each other and out of control. I have 4 cups of cuttings going to give other people and a trash can full of branches and leaves. My mother-in-law’s tongue was completely bent over and laying on top of the bromeliads. That cut-down is going to be an outdoor job. I tied it up for now but it’s as tall as me!
No big deal, right Ti?
I’m trying to remember - do you support the smoking ban in buildings?
Wait a couple of days, it will be 75
I guess that is a plant. Is “mother-in-law’s tongue” one witb sharp leaves?
What ban? Where?
I generally support freedom in private businesses.
I don’t have a problem with smoke free public places.
In a few days, it feels like I will be 75.
What ban? Do they allow smoking in malls, theaters, state and fed buildings in your area?
No. Only in bar bars, the kind without Sunday licenses. Restaurant bars are non smoking.
(You need to have a certain level of food sales in order to have a Sunday license. )
NY has banned smoking in public buildings. Everything is smokefree. Even the doorways are smokefree. YEAH! The only time I am happy about my nannystate.
oh, darn...my tiny little violin isn’t playing for ya. RME
wow, that is desperation.
Wendy doesn’t handle rejection well - or at least didn’t when she ran for something in FT Worth years ago (a big breakdown...) so I wonder how she will handle her own base attacking her for carrying a gun! lol
Sansevieria, like long spears. I can’t seem to find an image that doesn’t post as a giant pic.
Isn’t that already a law?
It is 27 and gloomy here, but there is no precipitation of any sort...
The tendency to neologize
Is not exclusive to Obama-
But it is not often someone
Does it with so much drama
In a fact-checking interview
Watched by people and press
He invents new meanings first
And then begins to digress
His handlers must be asking
Each other what went amiss-
He obviously screwed them
Without even a little kiss...
