Not necessarily. Some time back Walgreen's had a deal with the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation for "surveying" the customers who purchased tobacco products. Walgreen's require ID and would scan it and send the info to RWJF.

My guess is RWJF money is involved with the CVS decision as well, because they are starting a quit smoking campaign in conjunction with getting rid of tobacco products.

The portfolio that provides RWJF with the majority of its funding is made up of Johnson & Johnson stock - guess what J&J makes? Smoking cessation products.
