That is so sad.
My wife and I were just watching Little House on Sunday and wondering who was still living from the show. I was actually happy to hear that Mr. Oleson was still going. His character was my favorite. I learned a lot about charity, humility, and kindness based on him.
Sorry to say boys today dont have TV examples like that to learn from.
What I remember about him is the type of candy he sold. The old fashioned hard candy. I’ve tasted that type of candy quite a few times since then, and every time I do I think, how in the world did a kid actually think this was something special.
It usually stayed in my mouth for about 5 seconds, and to the trash it would go.
Taffy I get, but that stuff didn’t even taste “sweet”.
When it came out on DVD we bought the entire set. My girls were not born when it was on. Television had rotted so bad by the time they were born that we gave up on broadcast garbage. I have purchased several of my favorite shows on DVD and we watch them in chronological order to the end and then start a different show. Takes us more than a year to go through the old shows in our collection. Long enough to dim the memory and enjoy them again.
