Don't return calls from these area codes -- it's a scam!

A scam that repeats itself in modified forms every few years is once again spreading throughout the United Sates. Dont be a victim!
Criminals target people simply by calling them. Intended victims receive a call on their phones from area code 473 which rings once and then disconnects, thereby arousing the call-recipients natural curiosity who just called me and from where? Sometimes the caller actually allows the phone to ring long enough for the victim to answer -- after which the caller (or the callers robocaller system) makes groaning sounds or otherwise indicates that he or she is in distress and then hangs up, enticing the victim to wonder what is going on and call back.

You need to brush up on your Hindi cursing. I used to get those calls then I figured out how to reply in Hindi. Hilarity ensued. No more calls.

Just let your mouse hover over the link and read where it is going, it’s what I do just for curiosity. Interesting how they can’t seem to shut those sites down within seconds after they get identified though.

The biggest scammers on the face of the earth left themselves exempt from the do not call law when they wrote it.

I got a call last week from the 423 area code and like I said I never answer calls from numbers that I do not recognize. But I type the number in search to find out what the number is from.
Several peoples were exactly saying what you did, about a guy with an Indian sounding accent and microsoft

Yeah, one of my co-workers got a call from the Indian Guy from Microsoft.

Rarely will I defend those guys, but they had to. A "do not call" restriction on political calls would never have passed First Amendment muster in the courts.

Same here, and I have a certain ringtone for my Android phone for numbers that are not on my list. I always check those numbers via bing also and then put them in my reject list on my devise

I have special rings for Mrs. Hugin and my adult sons. Anyone else can leave a message. If they don’t, they don’t really want to talk to me.

Another phone scam tried us recently - a guy with an Indian sounding accent says hes from Microsoft and they have detected a problem with your computer and he needs to access it for repairs I was visiting my parents a few weeks back and my father handed me the phone after it rang; same 'support' a$$hats. I played along, all through going through the event viewer and filtering errors, right up until he sent me to a remote access site. I then laid into him, yelling "HANG UP/HANG UP" interspersed with expletives until he terminated the call.
footnote: Viewing the Event Viewer as a result of the call alerted me that my parents' laptop was experiencing severe errors in IE (thousands of errors). Fixed that for them. Ironic.

Another scammer number is 916 307 6490.

I always look the number up in the internet if it’s not a familiar area code.

I also have special ringtones, for my husband, adult son, and adult daughter, and my brother but when that specific ringtone comes up, it tells me it’s some telemarketer and I don’t answer
