BRRRrrrrr,,Ivana tellyou sumting.
After living seventy miles from Fairbanks, I have had my share of cold weather...-60. It looks as though they keep the extreme cold temperatures for a long time instead of just periodically. Therein lies the problem. The longer it is cold, problems multiply fast. We all have
heater plug-ins for batteries and block and you
know when to use them. There are plug-ins everywhere
up here and people leave there cars running for hours
at a time. Most people have auto start so they can
start their cars to warm up at a distance. Our water
lines are 8 ft. deep and you can’t just insulate, you
must use plastic too are frost will creep in everywhere.
I wear two sets of cleats on my boots as there is ice everywhere since we had a few warm days that left the snow a sheet of ice.
We are starting to see more sunlight and by March our days
will be bright all the time until it never gets dark
in June. I love that. Anyway, it is a different
way of life but I’m able to get out and snow machine
most of the winter and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
There isn’t a stop light on the road going south for
450 miles. I can only go north 70 miles until I
reach a stoplight. There are no roads going east or
west as that except for a few dirt roads is vast wilderness.
I don’t dream of being on a beach, but
I do love the summer as the weather is perfect.
I am glad I moved to Alaska.
